Perched on the 41st floor of a Midtown West tower with sweeping Hudson River views, this studio condo renovation by Sara Mosele Interiors transforms a single open volume into a fully realized, multi-functional home. The challenge was architectural as much as aesthetic: to carve a private office from the open plan without sacrificing light, while delivering a kitchen and living environment worthy of one of Manhattan’s most dramatic residential vantage points.
Design Details
The defining move of this renovation is a custom Rimadesio sliding partition — a floor-to-ceiling composition of fluted reeded glass and smoked panels set within a dark steel frame. Deployed across the full width of the entry zone, this system creates a dedicated home office that closes completely for focus and opens entirely to reunite the living space. The graphic rhythm of its alternating clear and opaque panels functions as architecture and art simultaneously — a wall that breathes.
In the kitchen, the design takes a bold, high-contrast direction. Deep espresso-stained flat-panel cabinetry runs floor to ceiling, grounded by a dramatic book-matched marble slab backsplash with sweeping brown and gold veining. Matte black Kohler fixtures — a gooseneck faucet and integrated soap dispenser — punctuate the stone surface with precision. Professional-grade stainless appliances complete a kitchen that is as serious about cooking as it is about style.
Underfoot, a large-format porcelain tile in soft greige keeps the palette from tipping too dark, while a herringbone-patterned cowhide rug in the living zone introduces texture and movement. Floating walnut shelves flank the partition wall, offering display without heaviness — a studied balance of openness and warmth against the tower’s floor-to-ceiling glazing.
